Port-Isabel-Keith-Thorn

The soft breeze of Port Isabel caressed our faces as we stood under the shade of a tall palm tree, gazing at the shimmering bay waters. Life here felt like a dream—a haven of peace we worked so hard to create. Yet, in the midst of this tranquility, a heavy cloud lingered in our hearts. Our children, who we loved so deeply, were on their own difficult journeys. Their struggles, grief, and moments of disconnect weighed on us, leaving a void that no sunny day could fully heal.

But we choose to believe that love, no matter how challenged or tested, was a guiding light. So, each morning, we sent out silent wishes—prayers for their strength, for their healing, for them to one day see that our happiness didn’t dim theirs, but could inspire it. We cherished every moment we had given and every sacrifice made for our family. Even now, apart and perhaps misunderstood, our hearts remained wide open.

Rather than dwell on the shadows, we turned our faces to the sun. We cooked meals together, inviting laughter to dance through our RV. We walked hand-in-hand on the sand, finding small treasures—a shell, a smile, a moment of calm. We met new friends, shared stories of hope, and continued building a future that overflowed with joy, believing that it was possible for everyone to find their way back to love.

Maybe one day they will see us and feel proud, or simply know that while we live our dream in Port Isabel, our greatest dream remains their peace and happiness. Until then, we carry on with gratitude, carrying love like a lantern and hoping it will one day lead them home. In the meantime, we live in hope and gentle forgiveness, building bridges through patience, not bitterness.
Because the sun rises even after the darkest storms, and so, too, will we.
